How to install Windows Sidebar on XP?

A tutorial to install Windows Sidebar on your XP and install FreeHD.gadget

VLC 0.9.2 has missing codec during compilation. Nevertheless, You can download a good version of VLC to this adress VLC 0.9.2. I take contact with VideoLan team to this problem.

Prerequisite
  • XP SP3
  • Internet Explorer 7
  • VLC 0.9.2 (For FreeHD Gadget) VideoLan
Download the following files
Install in first alky_1.1_trunk_032308-000051_xp.msi package

Install Ricks_WindowsSidebar_Intl_AlkyXP1.1 package
  • Uncompress Ricks_WindowsSidebar_Intl_AlkyXP1.1.zip archive
  • Select Sidebar.inf file with the "Right-button" mouse, and "Install"

  • Reboot your computer

  • Go to this link with Internet Explorer FreeHD.gadget
  • Clik on "Install"
